Background and Role

We are looking to onboard an Automation Engineer on a contract basis for a major bank.

The initial contract is expected to be for c.6 months with potential for extension. The bank have a hybrid model with good flexibility so we can consider candidates located anywhere within the UK.

The bank currently have a large project to identify issues with the backups of Large Databases within the banks physical server estate. The intention is to provide a service where the bank will integrate their storage technology and backup technology so they utilise available snapshot functionalities.

Documentation will be key for this project and it is expected for the Automation Engineer to be competent with Agile Methodology and Jira and Confluence for the purposes of completing tasks.

Requirements

  • Experienced Automation Engineer must have experience in Automation and Devops and skills in Ansible, Python, Kubernetes and general scripting
  • Must have strong experience with Jenkins, including setup, configuration, and management of CI/CD pipelines.
  • Must have a good understanding of infrastructure components, specifically databases and storage.
  • Experience of converting vendor API's into useable/easy to consume offerings delivered via a third party platform
  • Previous financial institution experience desired (or equivalent experience within a highly regulated/change controlled environment)
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure
  • Ability to work as an individual and as part of a wider team.
  • Must be able to take feedback constructively and understand that the feedback is designed to improve the overall end-customer product
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Competency with Agile methodology Jira/Confluence etc.
  • Relevant certifications are a plus.
  • Knowledge of Cucumber, Gherkin, Visual Studio, a bonus
