A Global Insurer with offices across the UK are looking to source an experienced Commercial New Business P&C Underwriter.  

Key Responsibilities

  • Working with key strategic intermediary partners to underwrite new business opportunities in the mid market to mid corporate space. 
  • Operate within your underwriting authority working closely with the Underwriting Manager & Sales Team to deliver exception service to customers and innovative underwriting solutions.
  • Support less experienced colleagues to increase their knowledge and experience.
  • Comfortable trading face to face with intermediaries or clients.
  • Identify and develop a new business pipeline to enable annual targets to be hit by year end.

Skills, Knowledge & Experience

  • Strong trading and relationship management experience.
  • Strong knowledge of underwriting and insurance industry theories and practices.
  • Demonstrated high level of technical expertise in Property and Casualty Underwriting.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills. Ability to effectively interact with internal and external business partners at all levels.
  • Capacity to work independently.
  • Strong ability to identify, analyse and solve problems as well as to learn rapidly, adapt quickly to change, and manage and prioritise multiple concurrent projects.
  • Skilled in exercising independent judgment and making critical business decisions effectively.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite as well as other business-related software.
