Specialist Teaching Assistant - Behaviour Support (Lower Secondary)

Sanza Teaching Agency is working with a specialist secondary school in Harrow to recruit a Specialist Teaching Assistant to support pupils with behavioural needs. This role is ideal for candidates with experience supporting young people who may display challenging or impulsive behaviour in school, youth work, or social care settings.



Role Overview:

You will work closely with lower secondary pupils who require additional guidance to manage their behaviour and access the curriculum. The role involves providing structured, consistent support to help students develop strategies to regulate behaviour, engage with learning, and participate safely in school life. You should have a calm approach, a good sense of humour and able to set clear boundaries and expectations for behaviour.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Support pupils with behavioural needs on a one-to-one or small group basis

  • Implement and reinforce strategies to manage challenging behaviour

  • Observe, monitor, and record pupil progress, reporting back to teachers and the SENCO

  • Assist students in developing emotional regulation, social skills, and problem-solving strategies

  • Support transitions and routines within the school day to ensure stability and consistency

  • Contribute to the development of individual behaviour plans and learning activities



Candidate Requirements:

  • Experience supporting young people with behavioural or additional needs in school, youth support, or social care

  • Calm, consistent, and patient approach with the ability to build trusting relationships

  • Strong observational and communication skills

  • Ability to adapt to changing situations and individual student needs

  • Committed to helping students develop strategies to succeed socially and academically



Role Details:

  • Hours: 8:15am - 3:45pm, term time only

  • Start: Immediate

  • Salary: 95-105 per day (depending on experience)
