We are happy to be recruiting for one of our high-profile banking clients. They are currently looking for a Sustainability Strategy Manager to join them for an initial 12 month contract, however there may be scope for extension.
Purpose of the Role:
- To act as the Strategy and Planning Manager, STPD-Planning / Sustainability Strategy, supporting and partnering with the Head of Sustainability Strategy, EMEA.
- To create a planning role to ensure the effective operational management of the function, including:
- Define data requirements and oversee the production of appropriate reporting of the activities of the STPD-Planning / Sustainability Strategy team and the teams in EMEA (e.g. report creation, data analysis).
- Provide executive support to the Head of Sustainability Strategy, EMEA, and support in planning the work of the teams in EMEA (e.g. tracking expenses, scheduling meetings, help with communications).
- Support sustainability transaction governance, including secretariat responsibilities for 2 key forums relating to reputational risk management and sustainable finance (e.g. meeting scheduling, distributing materials, minute taking, action tracking).
- Achieving efficiencies in use of resources, including in respect of spend with external advisers.
- Ensure appropriate administration and record keeping for the STPD-Planning / Sustainability Strategy team.
Accountabilities & Responsibilities:
Shaping and Driving Strategy
- Provide support to lead senior members of STPD-Planning / Sustainability Strategy in the development of strategic goals and the coordination of strategy across the client groups with the overall corporate strategy of the company, EMEA.
- Create a regular annual cycle of strategic planning with the Head of Sustainability Strategy, EMEA.
- Assist the Head Sustainability Strategy, EMEA in defining, communicating, executing and monitoring the strategic goals of the STPD - Planning / Sustainability Strategy in the EMEA region.
Resource and Budget Planning
- Ensure organisation structures are properly defined and maintained, supporting effective headcount planning.
- Assist the Head of Sustainability Strategy, EMEA, in headcount planning, headcount increases, onboarding and the recruitment process.
- Ensure that the day-to-day operations of STPD - Planning / Sustainability Strategy are sufficiently resourced, with consideration of staff numbers and skillsets and that functions and responsibilities are optimally distributed to meet the needs of the company for sustainability regulations/goals.
- Provide appropriate support for the Head of Sustainability Strategy, EMEA in planning the work of the STPD- Planning / Sustainability Strategy.
- Manage and track day to day BAU and change expenses against budget provided to STPD - Planning / Sustainability Strategy team and advise and provide regular budget MI to the Head of Sustainability Strategy, EMEA.
Reporting
- Ensure timely preparation of meeting materials and suite of management reports required for STPD - Planning / Sustainability Strategy to present to relevant Boards and management Committees across the company EMEA.
- Assist Sustainability Performance team in monthly preparation and four-eyes check of monthly ESG Performance Dashboard.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
- Knowledge of the financial services sector in EMEA.
- Highly numerate and able to interpret complex data sets.
- Knowledge of effective people management and development principles, tools and frameworks (performance management, professional development etc).
- Excellent data management and presentation skills (Office suite, Visio, etc).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to create compelling presentations and appropriate board-level reports.
- Experience of working in a complex international financial services company.
- Experience of driving change in established teams.
- Able to develop, adapt and implement effective processes to drive resource efficiencies.
- Able to operate autonomously while managing complex stakeholder relationships effectively at all levels.
Location:
This is a hybrid working role, with a requirement to work from the clients London office 2-3 days a week.
Working hours:
Standard working hours with some flex where required.
