A leading digital news platform is looking for a sharp and strategic Audience Editor to join its audience team. This is a key role within a fast-paced newsroom, where you'll work across social media, SEO, third-party platforms and the homepage to help grow and engage one of the UK’s largest digital audiences.
You’ll be working closely with editorial and data teams to identify the best stories, shape content strategies, and ensure coverage resonates with target audiences both on and off-platform. This is an exciting role for a journalist who has worked for an online newsroom for at least a year or two and who has working knowledge of social media, SEO, etc.
What you’ll be doing:
- Identifying and shaping stories that will drive traffic and engagement across multiple platforms
- Using audience data and analytics to spot trends and opportunities for growth
- Developing and executing strategies to increase reach and engagement via Google Search, Google Discover, social media and other platforms
- Collaborating with reporters, editors and other stakeholders to optimise content performance
- Contributing to planning around the news agenda and major events to help grow loyal, high-quality audiences
- Staying ahead of digital publishing trends and best practices in audience engagement
What you’ll need to succeed:
- Experience in audience development, social media or digital publishing for an online newspaper - ESSENTIAL.
- A strong understanding of SEO, content strategy and audience behaviour
- Excellent news sense and the ability to spot compelling, viral stories
- Great communication skills and the ability to collaborate across teams
- The ability to write sharp, clickable headlines and captions
- A data-driven mindset and confidence using analytics tools to guide decision-making
