Would you like to use your life science degree to communicate science to the wider audience?Are you passionate about science and possess a strong eye for detail?We have a unique opportunity for a life science graduate to work for a leading London based scientific publisher to join their dynamic editorial team, working on a range of esteemed medical and health journals. This role offers hybrid working with one day a week in the office (2 days for the first eight weeks while training).

This is an ideal role for a graduate with a strong life science degree looking to forge a career in journal publishing.

Key responsibilities of this role will involve:

  • Performing language and copy editing on scientific manuscripts to enhance clarity and readability.
  • Perform first-round edits or articles, to ensure they are well written, consistent and factually accurate.
  • Assessing authors responses to edits and editorial comments
  • Involvement in the peer review process, including identifying problems with plagiarism, patient consent and animal ethics
  • With experience you will perform second-round edits of articles.

The successful person will be educated to minimum BSc level in a life science subject and will have a passion for communicating science. This role requires meticulous attention to detail and exceptional organisation and communication skills, to effectively liaise with authors and team members, along with strong IT skills and the ability to work to deadlines. You should have the motivation to maintain a level of scientific knowledge appropriate to the role and the ability to work as part of a team as well as individually.
