My client, a successful UK-based Multidisciplinary Engineering Consultancy specialising in Civil Engineering, is on the lookout for a passionate and skilled Principal Civil Engineer to join their growing team in London. This role offers an exciting chance to work on innovative infrastructure projects, particularly in the development and maintenance of underground rail systems.
Key Responsibilities for a Principal Civil Engineer:
- Lead and manage a small team of engineers, ensuring efficient delivery of work packages with minimal oversight.
- Oversee timely submission of deliverables, conduct technical reviews, monitor budgets, and manage the commercial aspects of projects.
- Foster the growth and performance of team members through guidance, training, and constructive feedback.
- Engage in the design of both temporary and permanent works, ensuring high-quality standards and effective solutions from the beginning.
- Provide leadership within the team to implement engineering solutions.
- Facilitate daily technical discussions and collaborations with designers, contractors, and clients.
- Ensure compliance with technical briefs and project specifications.
Qualifications and Experience for the Principal Civil Engineering Role:
- Strong academic background with postgraduate qualifications in civil or structural engineering.
- At least 10 years of experience.
- Chartered status in civil or structural engineering, with membership in relevant professional organizations.
- Excellent interpersonal and technical abilities.
- Proven track record in a dynamic engineering consultancy environment.
- Extensive experience in tunnelling and underground space within major infrastructure projects.
- Strong commercial awareness.
- Proficiency in BIM and other design software.
- Comprehensive understanding of applicable standards, legislation, regulations, codes of practice, and guidelines.
