Commercial Lawyer - Data Protection & Consumer Rights
Location: London (Hybrid - 3 days in office)
The Role
Our client are seeking a Commercial Lawyer with experience in data protection, marketing compliance, and consumer law to join our legal team in the UK. You'll support various business functions including marketing, sales, and operations, and advise on contract risk, regulatory compliance, and privacy matters. The role reports to the Head of Legal UK.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and negotiate commercial contracts
- Advise on data protection (UK GDPR, PECR) and privacy impact assessments
- Ensure marketing materials comply with CAP/BCAP codes
- Support contract lifecycle management
- Collaborate with global legal teams
- Deliver internal training on data protection
- Engage with suppliers and regulators where needed
Requirements
- UK legal qualification (LPC/SQE or equivalent)
- 2+ years PQE (guideline only - all levels considered)
- Strong experience in data protection, PECR, and marketing law
- In-house legal experience in commercial/consumer law
- Excellent drafting, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills
