- Undertake complex care proceedings on behalf of the Local Authority.
- Provide legal advice in pre-proceedings (PLO), Special Educational Needs (SEN) matters, and participate in Legal Planning Meetings.
- Support a wide range of safeguarding work including child protection, vulnerable adults (including mental health), and adult protection.
- Advise on homelessness, housing appeals, and judicial reviews relating to children’s services and associated areas.
- Prepare and process all legal documentation relevant to client groups.
- Attend and present cases before Courts, Tribunals, or Public Inquiries as required.
- Advocacy is not mandatory but may be required in emergency cases if counsel is unavailable.
- Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Legal Executive.
- Significant experience in public law childcare proceedings.
- Sound knowledge of legislation relating to children’s services and safeguarding.
- Ability to manage a varied caseload independently and effectively.
- Local authority legal team experience is highly desirable.
