Senior Housing & Disrepair Lawyer

London Borough CouncilRate: £45-£55 per hour - Negotiable DOEContract: 3-6 months initially

We are currently working with a London Borough Council who are actively seeking an experienced Housing and Disrepair Lawyer to join them on an interim basis. The successful candidate will handle more complex housing litigation work, including disrepair claims, possession proceedings, landlord and tenant disputes, and general housing law advice.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake a personal caseload of complex housing litigation and advisory work.
  • Work flexibly as part of the Housing & Disrepair Team and be willing to offer support and assistance to other lawyers in the wider Legal team as required.
  • Deputise for the Principal Lawyer when required and supervise junior team members to ensure efficient service delivery.
  • Keep abreast of current legislation and professional standards, delivering training and advising members/officers where necessary.

Key Requirements:

  • Qualified as a Solicitor, Barrister, or Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives holding a current practising certificate.
  • Strong knowledge of housing law, landlord and tenant law, and litigation procedures.
  • Proven ability to supervise, advise, and guide less experienced staff.
  • Experience in providing legal advice in a local authority context.
