A unique opportunity has arisen for an experienced public sector lawyer to join a forward-thinking authority delivering nationally significant environmental infrastructure projects. This permanent role offers exposure to high-level governance, risk, and legal strategy across major public sector operations and partnerships.
The Role
As Senior Legal Counsel, you will play a pivotal role in leading legal, risk, and insurance matters across a diverse, multi-stakeholder organisation. Working closely with senior officers, project teams and external advisors, you’ll oversee complex governance structures and help shape the legal approach to critical infrastructure and environmental transformation.
You’ll manage a varied caseload covering procurement, property, commercial contracts, and governance while also supporting and mentoring legal team members.
Key Requirements
- Qualified solicitor with strong local government legal experience
- Expertise across property, commercial, public procurement and governance
- Experience managing complex legal caseloads and supporting senior officers
- Strong understanding of local authority governance and risk frameworks
- Strategic thinker with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
