A leading construction services provider is seeking a qualified and commercially astute Legal Counsel to join its legal team based in London. This is an exciting opportunity to become a key advisor for the division that is focused on refurbishment housing services and sustainable energy management for public and private sector clients. Reporting to the Head of Legal, you'll play a vital role in supporting strategic projects and day-to-day operations. You'll work closely with internal teams across business development, commercial, and senior management, as well as with external legal advisers and clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver timely, high-quality, and pragmatic legal advice that aligns with business needs and risk appetite.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts - particularly those related to construction and refurbishment projects.
  • Support tenders, contract variations, and operational matters, ensuring compliance with UK laws and industry standards.
  • Advise on governance and approval processes at both local and group level.
  • Engage with internal stakeholders and customers to resolve legal and contractual matters.
  • Manage external legal counsel when required.
  • Deliver training sessions and legal updates to colleagues across the business.

Essential Skills & Qualifications:

  • UK (or common law equivalent) qualified solicitor or barrister
  • Ideally 3-6 years PQE (flexible depending on quality of experience)
  • Understanding of UK construction law, particularly JCT and NEC contract forms
  • Experience negotiating and drafting construction-related agreements
  • Familiarity with public procurement processes preferred
  • Private practice and/or in-house experience desirableWhat We Offer
