We are looking for a compassionate and resilient Learning Mentor to join our supportive and inclusive secondary school in Newham. This is a key pastoral role working closely with students who may be facing challenges in their education, behaviour, or personal lives.

The Role:

As a Learning Mentor, you will support students in building confidence, improving engagement, and developing positive learning behaviours. You will work alongside teachers, pastoral leaders, and external agencies to create tailored support plans that address each student's individual needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide 1:1 mentoring and small group support to students at risk of underachievement

  • Build positive relationships to support social, emotional, and academic development

  • Monitor student progress and maintain detailed records

  • Liaise with families, staff, and external professionals to ensure joined-up support

  • Contribute to behaviour and attendance improvement strategies

  • Promote a safe, respectful, and inclusive school environment

What We're Looking For:
  • Experience working with young people, ideally in an educational or youth work setting

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • A calm, empathetic, and patient approach

  • Ability to inspire, motivate, and support students facing challenges

  • A relevant qualification or background in education, youth work, or mental health is desirable
