Pastoral Mentor - Secondary School
Location: Ealing (Commutable from West Ealing, Northfields, South Ealing, Acton, Hanwell, Pitshanger)
Pay: 95-110 per day
Start Date: September 2025
Contract: Full-time, long-term (Term Time Only)

Long Term Futures are working in partnership with a forward-thinking secondary school in Ealing that places a strong emphasis on student welfare. They are looking to appoint a dedicated Pastoral Mentor to join their supportive Pastoral Team from September. This role combines behaviour support, wellbeing mentoring, and practical help within the classroom.

The Role

You'll be a visible, reliable presence throughout the school, offering both structured and spontaneous support to students facing emotional, social, or behavioural challenges. Working alongside Heads of Year and pastoral leads, your responsibilities will include:

  • Facilitating one-on-one and small group pastoral sessions focused on resilience, self-esteem, and organisational skills
  • Supporting students during lesson transitions, unstructured times, and drop-in pastoral sessions
  • Assisting with behaviour management strategies in classrooms and communal areas
  • Recording wellbeing observations and collaborating with pastoral colleagues to follow up on concerns
  • Liaising with families and external professionals to help resolve attendance or conduct issues

Ideal Candidate

  • Experience in school, youth services, or counselling settings, particularly supporting secondary-aged young people
  • A genuine interest in wellbeing and the ability to build trust with teenagers
  • Skilled in de-escalation, positive language, and restorative approaches
  • Confident operating independently and proactively within a pastoral team
  • Strong communication skills and understanding of inclusive school cultures
