We are currently working with a welcoming secondary school in Greenwich who are seeking a caring and proactive Pastoral Support Officer to join their team in January. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with secondary school experience looking to make a positive impact in a secondary setting.
The Role
As a Pastoral Support Officer you will play a key role in supporting the wellbeing, behaviour, and personal development of Year 8 and Year 9 students. Working closely with the Head of Year, SENCO, and safeguarding team, you’ll help ensure every student feels supported, understood, and ready to learn.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing day-to-day pastoral support to Year 8 and 9 students.
- Building positive relationships with students to promote good behaviour, attendance, and engagement.
- Supporting students with social, emotional, and wellbeing needs, and signposting additional help where required.
- Meeting with parents, carers, and external agencies to discuss student progress or concerns.
- Assisting with behaviour monitoring, attendance tracking, and record keeping.
- Contributing to whole-school initiatives that support inclusion and student wellbeing.
- Working collaboratively with teaching staff to ensure consistent pastoral support across the year groups.
The school are looking for a pastoral support office with the following:
- Experience working in a secondary school or other educational setting.
- Pastoral or student support experience is desirable but not essential.
- An empathetic, patient approach with the ability to communicate confidently with young people.
- Good organisation and written English skills
