Description
- Translate documents and communications accurately between Japanese and English.
- Manage correspondence and communication in both Japanese and English.
- Act as a liaison between internal and external stakeholders.
- Proofread English texts with a focus on linguistic nuance and precision
- Create and manage English language content for internal use
- Provide cultural and linguistic insights related to Japanese
- Evaluate both machine-generated and human translation data
- Collect and curate data for use in linguistic research and development
- Distinguish and communicate the unique features of various English dialects
- Analyse English texts for semantic clarity, grammatical accuracy, and stylistic quality
Profile
A successful Interim Japanese Specialist should have:
- MA degree in linguistics, language or related field.
- Has at least 2 years of professional translation experience
- Deep understanding of Japanese language and cultural nuances
- Familiarity with various English dialects and their distinctions
- Fluent in American English, both written and spoken
- Strong analytical skills in morphology, syntax, grammar, and spelling
- Additional fluency in German, French, or Spanish is highly desirable
- Experience teaching English as a second language is a plus
- Background in language quality assurance and localisation is beneficial
