Junior Access Control Engineer

Salary: £28,000 per annum + Company Van & Fuel Card

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 4:30pm (30-minute break)

Attega Group is recruiting on behalf of one of our client partners for a Junior Access Control Engineer to join their growing team. This is a newly created role designed to support senior engineers by taking ownership of access control fob programming and site visits across social housing sites.

The Role

The primary focus of this position is programming and managing access control fobs (FOBs) for social housing tenants. Tenants may lose fobs or require additional access for family members, and you will attend site to programme new fobs onto door controllers and issue them directly to residents.

This role is ideal for someone technically minded, organised, and confident using a laptop, who wants to develop their skills within access control and security systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Attend social housing sites to programme access control fobs onto door controllers
  • Issue programmed fobs directly to tenants and provide basic usage guidance where required
  • Manage and programme a high volume of access control fobs efficiently and accurately
  • Carry out routine testing of access control and door entry systems
  • Attend low-level or simple faults and escalate more complex issues to senior engineers
  • Accurately record works completed and report any issues identified on site
  • Work closely with the engineering team to support day-to-day operations
Training & Progression
  • Full training provided on access control systems and fob programming
  • Hands-on experience working alongside experienced engineers
  • Clear progression opportunities into a more senior engineering role over time

Preferred Skills & Experience
  • Good IT skills and confidence using a laptop
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word
  • Electrical or technical experience is advantageous but not essential
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Good communication and customer service skills
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new systems and technology
Essential Requirements
  • Permanent right to work in the UK (no working visa)
  • Full, valid UK driving licence (no more than 3 points)
  • Ability to pass a DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check
  • Physically fit and comfortable with hands-on work
  • Ideally based in East London or South Essex
