This role sits within a high-profile research team and will play a key part in delivering impactful economic analysis, insight, and publications that support the organisation's strategic priorities.Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate closely with the Chief Economist to deliver timely and insightful economic analysis and reporting.
  • Update and maintain a suite of core economic research reports, ensuring accuracy and relevance of both data and narrative.
  • Contribute ideas and content for new economic research outputs, including both qualitative and quantitative work.
  • Provide economic insight and data to support external submissions, policy documents, speeches, and presentations.
  • Respond to media requests for statistics and commentary, supporting the organisation's external voice.
  • Maintain and update internal databases of economic statistics, ensuring the integrity of data used across the organisation.
  • Assist in a potential redesign of the economic data infrastructure (time permitting and secondary to core responsibilities).
  • Support other economics-related tasks and projects as required.

  • Research and policy teams across the organisation

External:

  • Analysts at the Office for National Statistics
  • Data providers (e.g., Refinitiv)
  • Economic research counterparts within member firms

Person Specification:

  • Degree in Economics, Statistics, or a related discipline (or equivalent professional experience)
  • 4-5 years' experience in an economist or economic research analyst role
  • Strong quantitative analysis and modelling skills
  • Proven ability to apply macroeconomic techniques to industry-specific contexts
  • Proficient in sourcing and analysing UK and international economic data
  • In-depth knowledge of the UK economy and financial services sector
  • Excellent written communication skills, particularly in explaining economic data clearly and concisely
  • Strong attention to detail and data accuracy
  • Organised and able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Interest in UK public policy and the application of economic analysis in a political context
