M & E Manager
Location: New Cross, London
Salary: Up to £70,000 + Travel Allowance
Overview:
First Military Recruitment are currently seeking an M & E Manager on behalf of one of our clients.
Our client encourages applications from ex-military personnel however all candidates will be given due consideration.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Management of the M&E delivery during pre-construction, construction and subsequent
- handover and commissioning phases of the project.
- Offer visible leadership, guidance, direction, and instruction to the site teams and suppliers.
- Provide the project with valuable experience, knowledge, and management of interfaces for M&E / building trades.
- Provide the project with valuable experience and knowledge of working on National Grid projects and delivery of M&E (MEICA) services in line with National Grid standards and procedures.
- Management of subcontractors’ and suppliers providing M&E (MEICA) services to the project.
- M&E (MEICA) design.
- SCADA (integrated tunnel control system).
- DTS (temperature sensing system).
- Radio communications (leaky feeder / fibre optics).
- Small power distribution.
- Lighting.
- HVAC.
- Security systems (CCTV, access control, alarms etc.).
- Fire detection systems.
- Pumped drainage.
- DNO supplies.
- Fresh water distribution.
- Office block sanitary items fit out.
- Input to Package Manager and Project Manager relating to resources including labour, plant, subcontractors, and materials.
- Identify issues and ensure they are resolved in a controlled and timely manner.
- Ensure that all temporary and permanent construction / installation activities are carried out in accordance with quality, environmental and H&S procedures, and all appropriate legislation.
- Interface with all other functional/support department leaders to facilitate successful development of the project from design stage through to construction, installation, commissioning, and handover to the client.

- requirements in conjunction with relevant departments (e.g. Design & Technical).
- Identify, assess, and document risks and opportunities.
- Develop and maintain effective communication and relationships with the client and other project stakeholders (internal and external).
- Ensure the requirements of the contract are understood and adhered to.
- Ensuring the project performance is reported in a transparent and accurate manner.
- Ensure suppliers and sub-contractors are managed and co-ordinated appropriately.
- Ensure objectives are achieved and project is delivered in accordance with agreed scope, timeframe, budget, and quality standards.
- Responsible for ensuring an operational programme is maintained for their section of the works, as well as ensuring daily/weekly/monthly reporting requirements are met.
- Manage budget to agreed targets or better.
- Monitor costs and provide the senior management with timely identification of deviations from budgets handed over.
- Ensure that all required temporary works documents, including briefs, designs and method statements / risk assessments, are produced and approved in accordance with the programme
- requirements and prior to works commencing.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Technical and practical knowledge appropriate to the nature of works and delivery of such.
- Knowledge and experience of working with National Grid / on National Grid projects.
- Good understanding of National Grid standards and procedures, especially concerning MEICA elements of work and associated commissioning and handover.
- HNC / HND or NVQ Level 5 (or Degree).
- Appropriate safety training and qualification for the nature of the works (e.g SMSTS, TSTS etc).
- 5+ experience in the project management of a major engineering project.
- Client and stakeholder management.
- Working knowledge of planning & programming.
- Commercial and contractual awareness.
- Management of a project delivery.
- Understanding of developing and maintaining forecasts and budgets.
