Mechanical Engineer - Maintenance

Location: East-Central London

Salary: £30/hour

Job Type: Long-term Temporary

Working Hours: 08:00-16:00/09:00-17:00

About the Role: We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join the maintenance team at a prestigious university in East-Central London. This role involves ensuring the continued operation and reliability of the university's mechanical systems, contributing to the upkeep of a safe and functional environment for students and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducting routine maintenance, fault diagnosis, and repairs on mechanical systems
  • Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedules
  • Inspecting, testing, and upgrading HVAC, pumps, boilers, and other mechanical components
  • Ensuring compliance with health and safety standards and relevant regulations
  • Supporting the wider maintenance and facilities teams with technical expertise
  • Assisting with installation and refurbishment projects as required

Requirements:

  • Recognised mechanical engineering qualifications (such as NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent)
  • Proven experience in mechanical maintenance, ideally within a large commercial or educational facility
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, plumbing, and mechanical plant operations
  • Good understanding of health and safety regulations related to mechanical engineering
  • Ability to troubleshoot faults efficiently and work effectively within a team
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
