Mechanical Engineer - Maintenance

Location: East-Central London

Salary: £30/hour

Job Type: Long-term Temporary

Working Hours: 08:00-16:00/09:00-17:00

About the Role: We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join the maintenance team at a prestigious university in East-Central London. This role involves ensuring the continued operation and reliability of the university's mechanical systems, contributing to the upkeep of a safe and functional environment for students and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

Conducting routine maintenance, fault diagnosis, and repairs on mechanical systems
Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedules
Inspecting, testing, and upgrading HVAC, pumps, boilers, and other mechanical components
Ensuring compliance with health and safety standards and relevant regulations
Supporting the wider maintenance and facilities teams with technical expertise
Assisting with installation and refurbishment projects as required

Requirements:

Recognised mechanical engineering qualifications (such as NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent)
Proven experience in mechanical maintenance, ideally within a large commercial or educational facility
Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, plumbing, and mechanical plant operations
Good understanding of health and safety regulations related to mechanical engineering
Ability to troubleshoot faults efficiently and work effectively within a team
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
