Senior / Principal Mechanical Design Engineer - Building Services

This dedicated Critical Systems team play a key role in making buildings more energy efficient, sustainable and cost effective to operate. The team works solely in the data centre field, keeping abreast of current best practice while researching breakthrough technologies that shape future trends.

As a leader in this market, we were one of the first consultancies to design air optimised data centres and are at the forefront of this cooling strategy, which has resulted in attaining the first ever BREEAM ‘Outstanding’ rating awarded to a data centre and significantly contributed to others achieving LEED ‘Gold’, or even targeting ‘Platinum’ status.

Responsibilities:

This is an excellent opportunity for a talented Senior / Principal Mechanical Design Engineer to join the Critical Systems team in the London office and to play a key role in ensuring the successful delivery of innovative mechanical design solutions for some of the most exciting and high-profile projects in the Datacentre and Critical Systems fields.

As part of the established team of expert engineers, and working closely with colleagues of various disciplines, you will prepare both scheme and detailed engineering designs for major data centre and other critical systems projects.

You will also have the opportunity over time to assume greater levels of responsibility and autonomy as your professional skills develop, and will be supported towards chartership.

Qualifications:

Educated to degree level in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering (MEng or BEng), and having gained relevant experience in a Mechanical Engineering role within a building services context, and having experience of detailed co-ordination with other design disciplines, you are already well versed in the use of relevant design software including CAD and Revit packages.

You have proven ability in producing low energy, creative design solutions, preparing specifications and project reports, carrying out site inspections and surveys, and detail design development, and crucially – you have a passion for creative and intuitive design. Experience of critical systems is preferred but if you have a good understanding of mechanical engineering concepts and approaches, and are keen to learn, you will be considered.
