The Role: Music Teacher – Camden

As a Music Teacher, you will play a key role in shaping the musical life of the school. You will be responsible for planning and delivering a high-quality and inspiring music curriculum that meets the needs of learners from Reception to Year 6.

You will be working in a Primary school located in the heart of Camden, who are committed to providing a rich and well-rounded education for all learners. A Music Teacher will be expected to:

  • Planning and delivering age-appropriate music lessons that align with the National Curriculum
  • Introducing students to core musical concepts, including rhythm, pitch, dynamics, tempo, and musical notation in a fun and accessible way
  • Developing students' skills in singing, movement, and using classroom percussion instruments
  • Creating opportunities for music-making through group work, improvisation, and composition activities
  • Leading whole-school singing assemblies
  • Organising and directing performances such as school productions, seasonal concerts, and class assemblies
  • Introducing students to a variety of musical genres, cultures, and composers to broaden their musical awareness
  • Providing inclusive music education, ensuring children of all abilities and backgrounds can access and enjoy music
  • Identifying and nurturing musical talent, and encouraging students to take part in extracurricular music opportunities
  • Collaborating with class teachers and other subject leads to integrate music into cross-curricular projects or thematic learning
  • Maintaining and managing school music resources, including instruments, sound equipment, and music books
  • Ensuring health and safety standards are met in all practical music activities
  • Building links with external music services, visiting musicians, and local music initiatives where appropriate
