We are seeking a proactive and organised School Receptionist to be the first point of contact for parents, pupils, and the public, both visiting and calling the school. This role is crucial in shaping the first impression of the school. You will support the Facilities Manager by assisting with the non-teaching aspects of the school, focusing on the security of school buildings, general reception functions, and the safety of pupils, staff, and visitors.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Operate the Mitel telephone system to handle enquiries from prospective and current parents, companies, suppliers, and direct calls as necessary.
  • Supervise and manage the signing in and out process for staff and pupils, ensuring a complete register is maintained for safety protocols such as fire drills.
  • Manage and update student and staff registers, including printing emergency fire registers and compiling lists of pupil absences.
  • Participate in organizing school events such as Prize Day and Open Days, ensuring high standards of coordination and execution.
  • Regularly update the receptionist procedural guide and manage electronic storage and information passage as required.
  • Assist visitors by issuing security passes and following strict security door entrance procedures.
  • Manage the school's daily postal requirements and maintain the franking machine credit.
  • Keep logs for taxi bookings and courier services as requested for staff and pupils.
  • Implement and promote the schools Occupational Health and Safety Policy and Equal Opportunity Policy in daily duties.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Experience in a receptionist or administrative role, preferably within an educational setting.
  • Proficient in using office software such as Windows, Excel, and database systems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently and effectively.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe and inclusive environment in accordance with school policies.
Enhanced screening will be completed on the successful candidate including an Enhanced DBS check, References, Safeguarding and Prevent training.
