About the Role
Philosophy Education is recruiting on behalf of a specialist Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Islington. The school provides high-quality education for pupils who have been excluded from mainstream schools or who require a more personalised learning environment due to social, emotional or behavioural needs.
We are seeking a passionate and resilient PRU Teacher to join their dedicated team. This is an exciting opportunity to work with small groups of pupils, delivering creative and engaging lessons that make a real impact on both academic progress and personal development.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver lessons tailored to the individual needs of pupils with SEMH and behavioural challenges.
- Establish strong, positive relationships with students, acting as a mentor and role model.
- Manage behaviour effectively, promoting positive choices and fostering a safe and inclusive learning environment.
- Work collaboratively with support staff, therapists and external agencies to provide holistic support.
- Track progress and celebrate achievements, recognising both academic and personal growth.
Candidate Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) – all subject backgrounds considered, though core subjects are highly desirable.
- Previous experience working with pupils with SEMH needs or in alternative provision/PRUs is advantageous.
- Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills, with a calm, resilient approach.
- A genuine commitment to supporting young people to overcome barriers to learning.
- Flexibility, patience, and the ability to adapt teaching methods creatively.
