Qualified English Tutor needed in Barking and Dagenham!
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
Prospero Teaching is seeking a dedicated and qualified English Tutor to deliver bespoke education packages on a 1:1 basis to GCSE students in Barking and Dagenham who are currently unable to access mainstream education.
This Outreach Tutor role is ideal for an experienced English teacher looking to move away from the traditional classroom setting and provide personalised, engaging lessons that help bridge gaps in learning and boost student confidence and attainment.
Many of the students you'll work with may have been out of education for some time and could present with SEN or SEMH needs. Your role will be to re-engage them in their learning journey, preparing them for upcoming GCSE exams or resits, and helping them build structure and routine.
Prospero Teaching will support you throughout the placement, monitoring progress and ensuring effective learning outcomes.
CONTRACT/POSITION DETAILS
- Location - Barking & Dagenham
- Position - Outreach Tutor (English)
- Type of work - Contract
- Start date - ASAP
- Duration / Likely Duration - Dependent on each student
- End date (if applicable) - N/A
- Contract type - Temporary
- Full time/part time - Part time (10-15 hours per week)
- Minimum rate of pay - 25 per hour
- Hours - Sessions range from 1 to 3 hours each
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND QUALIFICATIONS
- QTS, QTLS, PGCE or equivalent
- Minimum 6 months experience teaching in a UK school
- Experience with SEN and SEMH students (desirable)
- Up-to-date Safeguarding training (desirable but not essential)
TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THIS ROLE THROUGH PROSPERO TEACHING, YOU MUST:
- Hold Right to Work in the UK
- Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
- Provide two professional child-related references covering the last two years
