Are you an HLTA with experience with EBD and SEMH pupils? We are currently looking for a higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to work in a SEMH school based in Wembley. The school supports pupils with various behavioural and emotional needs that require support on a 1:1 basis or in small groups.

The Role

In this role you will be working with pupils in KS1 and KS2. You will need to have experience in a PRU or similar environment and should be confident as an HLTA to lead your own groups. You will be working closely with other staff and professionals to manage challenging emotional and social behaviour on a daily basis. You will oversee some class groups.

Due to the nature of this role, the school are only looking for Teaching Assistants with previous experience supporting pupils with SEMH or complex emotional and behavioural needs. PRU or similar experience would be preferable. Restraint training such as PRICE or de-escalation training is desirable, however, not essential; as PRICE training will be provided. You must have a calm and resilient approach and be able to build a strong rapport with the students.

This role is offered on a full-time ongoing contract basis and is to start immediately.

The School

This small, independent school specialises in providing schooling for children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH).

The dedicated staff team are committed to providing a nurturing and supportive learning environment that is adaptable to meet each student’s needs. The school offers stability needed to gain an emotional balance and wellbeing support to allow students to develop their self-esteem and a positive attitude to lifelong learning. Alongside the core teaching and support staff are a team of therapist and outreach workers providing the students with a rounded support programme.

The school is based in Wembley and benefits from being part of a larger charity focussed on improving the mental health and well-being of children.

There is an established leadership in place at the school who hold consistently high standards for their staff and there are good opportunities for professional development and career progression within the school.

If you have previous experience support young people with SEMH and behavioural needs and would like the opportunity to work in a supportive and progressive school, please apply immediately with an up-to-date CV outlining your experience.
