Payroll and Finance Officer

We are seeking a dedicated Payroll and Finance Officer to ensure the smooth operation of monthly payroll processes for approximately 200 staff, and to manage payroll accounting and financial responsibilities for the school's Charitable Trust. This role serves as the primary point of contact for payroll, pension, and benefits queries, offering a pivotal service in our finance department.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Administer all payroll operations including data entry, timesheet management, and liaising with HR on staff changes.
  • Process payroll journals, perform balance sheet reconciliations, and ensure accurate payroll reports.
  • Administer employee benefits and handle related queries.
  • Perform monthly pension reconciliations and liaise with external payroll providers and HMRC as needed.
  • Assist in the production of annual salary letters and management information requests.
  • Streamline payroll processes and maintain accurate employee data in the payroll system.
  • Manage financial transactions and monthly accounting for the School's Charitable Trust.
  • Oversee trip accounting, ensuring accurate budgeting and financial reporting.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Experience in payroll or finance functions is essential.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
  • Excellent IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Effective communication skills, capable of managing tight deadlines and high-pressure situations.
  • CIPP qualification or part-qualified in CIMA, ACCA, or ACA is desirable.
  • Experience in educational environments is a plus.
