Street Lighting Technician (Project-Led Focus)

Location: Camden, London Duration: 3 months (very likely to extend)Location: Hybrid - Flexible working. Rate: Negotiable

The Role:

We're working with a client to find a Street Lighting Technician (Project-Led Focus) who's more about strategy and project coordination than boots-on-the-ground operations. Think of this as a bridge role: you'll liaise between the Transport and Strategy teams while keeping an eye on design integrity, safety, and legislative compliance.

This role isn't for a standard maintenance operative. The hiring manager is after someone with technical depth and confident communication - someone who can manage inspections, speak the language of design standards, and help steer projects the right way.

  • Act as the go-between for the Transport and Strategy teams on street lighting matters
  • Support project delivery through inspections and technical input
  • Review, comment on, and ensure adherence to lighting design standards
  • Communicate effectively across departments and with contractors
  • Provide technical insight into reports, maintenance plans, and service development

The Candidate:

  • Project or programme support experience within public lighting or highways
  • Strong communication and decision-making skills
  • Familiarity with inspection procedures and public lighting design
  • Good understanding of the following standards:
    • BS5489
    • BS EN13201

Bonus:

  • Experience in local authority/public sector settings
  • CDM Regulations awareness
  • Able to supervise a small team (up to 3)

Work Environment & Flexibility:

  • 1 day per week in the office; otherwise, flexible working
  • Regular site visits and inspections as needed
  • Supportive manager, realistic expectations
