Join our team at a busy online pharmacy that specialises in dispensing controlled medications. We are seeking a positive and approachable Pharmacy Dispenser who can utilise their Level 2 or equivalent Healthcare Assistant and Dispenser qualification to enrich people’s lives. This role requires an adaptable and flexible mentality, with a strong desire to learn and apply new knowledge and skills.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Ensure prescriptions are labelled, assembled, and forwarded for checking accurately and without undue delay, adhering to all relevant Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Identify and resolve any anomalies or problems with prescriptions.
  • Correctly identify the customer/patient to receive the medication dispensed and counsel them on the use of their prescribed items, where appropriate.
  • Complete all relevant documentation, including register entries and accurate endorsement of prescriptions.
  • Co-ordinate the ordering, collection, and delivery of repeat prescriptions, ensuring full records are maintained and patient consent has been given.
  • Use NHS Smartcard for authorised tasks and complete all end-of-day/month paperwork in a timely manner.
  • Respond appropriately to customer needs, politely and efficiently, following Standard Operating Procedures for the Sale of Medicines and Supporting Self-care.
  • Refer customers to other healthcare professionals, including the pharmacist, as per the Standard Operating Procedure for Sign-Posting.
  • Follow COSHH regulations at all times and handle hazardous goods, returned medicines, waste, and rubbish appropriately.
  • Maintain the appearance of the pharmacy through regular and effective housekeeping procedures.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Level 2 or equivalent Healthcare Assistant and Dispenser qualification.
  • Experience in a pharmacy setting, particularly in dispensing controlled medications.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of pharmacy Standard Operating Procedures, Health and Safety regulations, and legal and ethical requirements.
