Communications and Campaigns Officer

Contract Details:
* Type: Temporary
* Pay: 400 per day, Umbrella
* Location: Perceval House, Ealing
* Working Arrangements: Hybrid - 2 days per week from home
* Hours: Full time, 35 hours per week (Monday to Friday)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Communications and Campaigns Officer to join Ealing Council's Communications team. You will play a key role in designing and delivering engaging campaigns that inform residents, businesses, and partners about the council's work and priorities, while supporting the council's reputation and core values. Ideally, you will have experience with Local Authority/Housing.

This is a hands-on role, ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys managing a variety of communications projects from concept to delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver strategic communications campaigns aligned to the council's priorities and the Council Plan.
    * Pitch campaign ideas to senior stakeholders including councillors and directors, gaining buy-in and ensuring delivery to time, budget and satisfaction.
    * Evaluate outcomes and report on campaign effectiveness, providing insights and recommendations.
    * Write, edit and produce accessible and engaging content across multiple platforms including print, digital and social media.
    * Provide proactive and reactive communications advice on issues affecting the council's reputation.
    * Collaborate across departments to ensure consistent and effective messaging.
    * Create or commission high-quality and inclusive communication materials that reflect the diversity of Ealing's communities.
    * Maintain high professional standards, staying up to date with best practice and local government communications guidelines.

Key Skills and Experience Required

  • Strong understanding of local government communications and relevant legislation.
    * Proven ability to develop and deliver creative, accessible, and results-driven campaigns using the OASIS model.
    * Excellent copywriting, editing and content creation skills with an eye for detail.
    * Strong IT and digital skills, including Microsoft Office, CMS platforms, Adobe packages, and social media tools.
    * Confident communicator with excellent presentation and interpersonal skills, able to build positive working relationships at all levels.
    * Resilient, professional, and able to manage competing priorities under pressure.
    * Degree-level education (or equivalent experience) in communications, journalism, marketing, or a related field.
    * Experience of working with senior leaders, councillors and diverse audiences to deliver effective communications.
