Teacher of German Required - Outstanding Tower Hamlets School (September 2025 Start)

Our Outstanding school in the vibrant and diverse borough of Tower Hamlets, London, seeks a dedicated and experienced Teacher of German to join our thriving Modern Foreign Languages department and make a real difference to the linguistic skills and cultural understanding of our students across all Key Stages, commencing in September 2025.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Planning, preparing, and delivering engaging and effective German lessons that cater to the diverse learning needs of our students across Key Stages 3, 4, and potentially 5, reflecting the multicultural richness of Tower Hamlets.
  • Developing students' skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in German, fostering a love of the language and its cultures.
  • Assessing and tracking student progress in German, providing constructive feedback, and implementing effective intervention strategies where necessary.
  • Contributing to the development, implementation, and review of the German curriculum, ensuring alignment with the National Curriculum and relevant examination specifications.
  • Utilizing and contributing to the development of high-quality German resources, including digital tools and authentic German materials.
  • Contributing to extracurricular activities that promote language learning and cultural understanding within the school community (e.g., German clubs, language trips, cultural events).
  • Collaborating effectively with colleagues within the MFL department and across the wider school to foster a rich and interdisciplinary learning environment.

The Ideal Candidate Will Possess:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • A degree in German or a closely related field.
  • Successful experience teaching German across Key Stages 3 and 4, with experience in Key Stage 5 being advantageous.
  • A strong understanding of the National Curriculum for Modern Foreign Languages and relevant examination specifications.
  • Excellent pedagogical skills and the ability to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners in a diverse urban environment like Tower Hamlets.
