We’re seeking a highly skilled and motivated Mechanical Supervisor to lead a team of engineers in delivering exceptional maintenance and operational standards across a high-profile building. This is a prime opportunity for a seasoned Lead Engineer ready to step up, or an experienced Supervisor seeking a fresh challenge in a dynamic and rewarding environment.
The Role
As Mechanical Supervisor, you’ll be the technical and operational lead for all mechanical systems on site. You’ll manage a team of engineers, drive service excellence, and ensure compliance with industry standards and client expectations.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Operational Oversight
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of 5 multi-skilled engineers.
- Conduct regular performance reviews, training sessions, and toolbox talks.
- Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Technical Expertise & Maintenance Delivery
- Oversee planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive works across all mechanical systems.
- Provide hands-on support and advanced fault diagnosis when required.
- Ensure all works are completed to high standards, within SLA and KPI targets.
Plant & System Management
- Manage and maintain:
- Chillers & Cooling Towers – performance monitoring, maintenance scheduling, fault resolution.
- Boilers & Heating Systems – compliance checks, efficiency optimisation, safety assurance.
- AHUs & FCUs – servicing, filter replacements, airflow and temperature control.
- Pumps, Valves & Pressurisation Units – inspections, repairs, and operational integrity.
- Hot & Cold-Water Systems – Legionella compliance, flushing regimes, temperature monitoring.
- Building Management System (BMS) – system adjustments, fault escalation, trend analysis.
Compliance & Documentation
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, risk assessments, and statutory compliance.
- Ensure adherence to health & safety regulations, including COSHH and permit-to-work systems.
- Support audits and client reporting with detailed technical documentation.
Client & Stakeholder Engagement
- Act as the primary point of contact for client-side FM teams and senior stakeholders.
- Attend regular site meetings, provide updates, and contribute to strategic planning.
- Identify opportunities for service enhancements and energy efficiency improvements.
Project & Asset Management
- Assist in small works and lifecycle projects, including scoping, contractor liaison, and quality control.
- Support asset verification and contribute to long-term maintenance planning.
About You
- Qualifications: NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- Experience: Proven track record in building services maintenance, ideally in a supervisory or senior engineer role.
- Skills: Strong leadership, excellent communication, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Knowledge: In-depth understanding of HVAC, plumbing, and plant room operations. Familiarity with BMS systems and compliance frameworks.
