Project Director (Hyperscale Data Centres)
Location: Central London
Salary: Up to 140,000 + Comprehensive Package
We at Smart4EPC are currently assisting our Top Ranked M&E client on their search for an accomplished Project Director to lead the delivery of large-scale Hyperscale Data Centre projects across the UK. This is a senior leadership opportunity to take full responsibility for complex, high-value MEP delivery - ensuring projects are executed safely, efficiently, and to the highest technical and commercial standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Take full ownership of project delivery across major hyperscale and mission-critical data centre projects.
- Lead multi-disciplinary teams through all phases - from pre-construction and design coordination to commissioning and client handover.
- Oversee mechanical systems including cooling, air handling, chilled water, and energy-efficient infrastructure solutions.
- Manage commercial performance, including budgeting, cost forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Foster strong relationships with clients, consultants, main contractors, and internal stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with rigorous technical standards, health & safety, and environmental requirements.
- Provide leadership and mentoring to project managers and engineering teams, promoting technical excellence and best practice.
Role Requirements:
- Proven track record as a Project Director or Senior Project Manager within the MEP contracting or data centre delivery environment.
- Strong mechanical engineering background, ideally degree-qualified or equivalent.
- Demonstrable experience managing hyperscale or mission-critical data centre projects within the UK.
- Exceptional leadership, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
- Commercially driven, with deep understanding of project governance and financial control.
- A proactive, solutions-oriented professional capable of delivering under pressure and to tight deadlines
