Project Manager

Structural Steel & Metalwork

Location: London / Hitchin

Salary: £65,000 (higher available for the right experience)

 Are you an experienced Project Manager with a strong technical background in metalwork, steel fabrication, and onsite installation? Were looking for someone who can take ownership of complex projects, work closely with clients and site teams, and ensure smooth delivery from the first survey through to final handover.

This role is perfect for someone who understands both the practical and technical sides of metalwork projects from interpreting drawings and measuring up site spaces, to ensuring build compliance and managing stakeholders.

You will spend part of your week based in the Hitchin office, with the remainder on live project sites across London and surrounding areas.

What You'll Be Doing in this Project Manager Role:

  • Overseeing multiple metalwork and steel fabrication projects from planning to completion
  • Carrying out detailed site surveys, including accurate measurements and feasibility checks
  • Ensuring all work aligns with relevant building regulations, safety rules, and industry standards
  • Understanding load paths, steel connection details, and fabrication processes to support technical decisions
  • Preparing project documentation including scopes, programmes, RAMS and cost trackers
  • Coordinating closely with clients, engineers, architects, and site teams to keep projects on track
  • Monitoring progress, budgets, and quality through regular site visits
  • Leading project teams and ensuring smooth communication across all parties
  • Managing issues rapidly to maintain momentum and ensure timely delivery

What We're Looking For:

  • Strong Project Management experience within steel fabrication, architectural metalwork, or structural steelwork
  • Handson technical understanding of steel design, fabrication methods, and installation practices
  • Ability to confidently conduct site surveys and produce accurate measurements
  • Knowledge of UK building regulations, steelwork standards, and compliance requirements
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects at once
  • Confident communicator with the ability to build strong relationships with clients and contractors
