HSE Manager – Major Data Centre Project – London

A leading specialist engineering firm, renowned for delivering complex mechanical and electrical services across the UK and Europe, is seeking an experienced HSE Manager for a flagship data centre project based in London.

This critical role is responsible for ensuring exceptional standards in health, safety, and environmental management are maintained throughout all phases of construction, setting the benchmark for site safety culture and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead proactive risk assessments and hazard identification to mitigate health, safety, and environmental risks on site.
- Develop, implement, and manage a tailored HSE Management Plan aligned with UK legislation and best practices.
- Ensure full legal compliance with all relevant HSE regulations, including CDM 2015.
- Deliver engaging and effective safety inductions, toolbox talks, and training programs to operatives and subcontractors.
- Investigate all incidents, near-misses, and unsafe acts, producing root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.
- Conduct frequent site inspections, audits, and safety walkdowns, maintaining accurate records and reports.
- Oversee environmental practices including waste management, pollution control, and energy efficiency measures.
- Champion a culture of continuous safety improvement and behavioural safety across the site.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
- NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent) and relevant HSE/Construction qualifications.
- Minimum 3 years' experience in a similar HSE leadership role on major construction projects.
- Experience in mission-critical environments such as data centres, pharmaceutical facilities, or high-tech infrastructure.
- Strong knowledge of UK health, safety, and environmental legislation and compliance standards.
- Proven track record of managing subcontractor safety, audits, incident reporting, and behavioural safety programs.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Must be fluent in English; experience in multicultural project teams advantageous.
Package & Benefits:
