About the Role:
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our client in London, working within the commercial fit-out sector. The role provides an excellent opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals on exciting and fast-paced fit-out projects across various industries. You will be involved in the financial and contractual management of projects from inception to completion, gaining exposure to both pre- and post-contract duties.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in preparing detailed cost estimates and budgets for commercial fit-out projects, ensuring accuracy and alignment with client specifications.
- Support senior quantity surveyors in managing project costs, including tracking progress against the budget and reporting on any variations or potential risks.
- Assist with the preparation of tender documentation, including tender analysis.
- Aid in the procurement process by preparing tender packs, liaising with subcontractors, and evaluating contractor bids.
- Assist in the preparation and submission of interim valuations and payment applications, ensuring the timely receipt of payments.
- Monitor and manage the financial aspects of subcontractor accounts, including variations, payments, and final accounts.
- Attend site meetings and site visits to monitor progress, assess cost issues, and ensure that works are progressing as planned.
- Provide support for managing and resolving contract disputes and assist in final account negotiations.
- Assist with the preparation of cost reports, cash flow forecasts, and project cost plans to ensure effective financial management.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, and suppliers to facilitate smooth project delivery.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience in the construction or commercial fit-out industry.
- Strong understanding of construction cost management and financial reporting.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- A strong analytical mindset with excellent attention to detail.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to build relationships with clients, contractors, and colleagues.
- Ability to work well in a team and independently, with a proactive attitude to solving problems and managing multiple tasks.
