Freelance Quantity Surveyor – Long-Term Mixed-Use RC Frame Development (Barnes, SW13)

A prestigious new-build mixed-use development in Barnes (SW13) is seeking a highly skilled Freelance Quantity Surveyor to join the team on a long-term basis. This is a hybrid role, offering flexible working arrangements for the right candidate.

The project is led by a contractor renowned for delivering high-quality builds with integrity, community engagement, and environmental consideration at its core. Project Overview:

  • Location: Barnes, SW13 (Hybrid working available)
  • Type: Mixed-use development (residential & commercial)
  • Structure: Reinforced Concrete (RC) Frame
  • Duration: Long-term freelance assignment

Salary:

  • Day Rate: Competitive and negotiable based on experience
  • Candidates with a strong track record in Tier 1 contracting and long-term project delivery will be rewarded accordingly

Candidate Profile:

  • Extensive experience with Tier 1 contractors on long-term assignments
  • Strong commercial acumen and ability to manage complex packages
  • Proven track record in RC frame and mixed-use developments
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Able to work independently while integrating with wider project teams

Key Responsibilities:

  • Procurement & Package Management: Lead procurement strategy, tender analysis, and subcontractor onboarding
  • Cost Planning & Budget Control: Develop and maintain cost plans, monitor expenditure, and ensure financial targets are met
  • Valuations & Variations: Prepare interim valuations, assess and negotiate variations, and manage change control processes
  • Final Accounting: Compile and agree final accounts with subcontractors and clients
  • Risk & Value Management: Identify commercial risks and opportunities, and implement mitigation strategies
  • Reporting & Forecasting: Deliver accurate cost reports, cash flow forecasts, and financial updates to senior stakeholders
  • Contract Administration: Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and manage correspondence
  • Stakeholder Liaison: Collaborate with design, site, and client teams to ensure smooth project delivery
  • Site Visits & Progress Monitoring: Attend site as needed to assess progress, verify claims, and support commercial decisions
