The Opportunity
Join a well-established, privately owned building contractor with over 85 years of experience delivering high-quality refurbishments and heritage projects across London and the South East. Specialising in social housing, commercial refurbishments, and heritage works, the company is renowned for its commitment to quality, flexibility, and client satisfaction.
  
As a Quantity Surveyor, you’ll play a key role in maximising profit and minimising risk across projects, supporting the delivery of multiple schemes ranging from £500k to £6.5m. This role provides a hands-on opportunity to work closely with senior management in a dynamic, collaborative environment, where quality and accountability are highly valued.
  
About the Role – What You’ll Be Doing
Based from the Bermondsey head office, your responsibilities will include:
  • Cost Management: Oversee valuations, variations, and cost control across live projects.
  • Estimating & Procurement: Price & prepare tender packages, negotiate with subcontractors, and place orders.
  • Contract Administration: Manage subcontractor accounts, applications, and payments.
  • Commercial Reporting: Produce monthly CVRs, forecasts, and cashflow reports for management.
  • Client Liaison: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, councils, and stakeholders.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with site managers and project teams to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to high-quality standards.
This role is suitable for an Intermediate QS (£55k–£65k) or someone stepping into a Senior QS position (£65k–£75k) with the ambition to take on wider responsibilities.

  • Proven Quantity Surveying experience, ideally with a main contractor.
  • Commercial awareness with the ability to maximise profit and manage risk.
  • Knowledge of estimating, Excel, and financial project control.
  • Strong character: thorough, proactive, and happy to take responsibility.
  • Degree or HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or related field.
