Fomac Agency require a quantity surveyor. This role will be mostly site based located in Hammersmith. The job is a refurbishment for commercial to residential. This is a long-term opportunity for the right candidate, working initially on this site as well as across other projects.

Requirements:

  • BSc in Quantity Surveying
  • Minimum of 4 years experience working a Quantity surveyor
  • Experience on residential projects (apartments)
  • Hold a valid CSCS card
  • Right to work in the UK
  • Experience with D&B contracts
  • Ability to communicate articulately, both verbally & in writing
  • Commercially inventive & astute
  • Effective time management, organisational, interpersonal & negotiation skills
  • Full understanding of a wide variety of modern construction technology, key regulation, methods of construction and their commercial impact
  • Ability to draft contractually & commercially sensitive correspondence and reports
  • provide detailed advice on contract conditions, undertake tender scrutiny, identify issues that require legal advice and manage the resolution of contractual issues.
  • detailed working knowledge of bonds, guarantees, warranties, letters of intent and other common contractual mechanisms
  • proficient in all relevant software applications for quantity surveying and project management is an advantage
  • Lead procurement process and letting of complex subcontract packages

Responsibilities:      

  • Implement Commercial strategy amending as required
  • Liaise closely with wider project and design team to influence/challenge elements to improve/better commercial outcomes
  • Prepare & analyse tenders
  • Prepare and issue subcontract orders and manage subcontract packages to final account
  • Prepare forecasts, targets and CVRs
  • Prepare and agree valuations
  • Update projected final account on a regular basis for presentation to senior management/board
  • Maintain & protect SDL commercial and contractual entitlement
  • Ensure oversight is implemented on prelim costs
  • Ensure appropriate site records are being retained by the project team to support challenges to supply chain and assist in submissions
  • Retain and update a risk & opportunity schedule
  • Manage and oversee any junior staff who may be placed under your responsibility
  • Cash Management – Ensure timely payment & adequate cash management positions are maintained
  • Take ownership for project deliverables and commercial success
  • Manage any claim submissions and respond in a timely manner, protecting SDL interests at all times.
