Freelance Quantity Surveyor
Are you an experienced Quantity Surveyor with experience running multiple schemes, tightening up commercial processes, and delivering results where quality really matters?

A well-established civil engineering contractor is now looking to strengthen their team with a capable, detail-driven Freelance Quantity Surveyor based in East London:
 
·Rate: £300 per day Outside IR35
·Contract: 6-month rolling contract
·Location: Tower Hamlets
 
You'll be joining a Private Works division that has been operating successfully for over two years and is continuing to grow. With multiple schemes live at any one time, the business now needs a commercially robust QS to take ownership of CVRs, applications, and change control, ensuring projects are run efficiently and professionally.
 
You'll be managing 1-3 schemes at a time, typically valued at £7-8m, with works largely subcontracted.
 
This role offers strong autonomy, stability, and the chance to make an immediate impact within a growing team.
 
Key Responsibilities:
·Preparation and management of CVRs
·Pricing Bills of Quantities and private works
·Commercial management of subcontracted packages
·Managing labour, plant, and materials
·Producing and managing change control
·Ensuring monthly applications are accurate and submitted on time
·Supporting commercial best practice across multiple live schemes
 
What We're Looking For:
·Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor on civil engineering or highways-style projects
·Experience managing schemes in the £7-8m range
·Strong understanding of commercial reporting and applications
·Confident working with subcontractors and commercial supply chains
·High attention to detail and ability to work independently
·Highways or London road schemes experience beneficial but not essential
