Engagement Officer - Healthy Streets and Vision Zero
Purpose of the role:
The Engagement Officer will focus on Healthy Streets and Vision Zero initiatives. This role is crucial in leading TFL’s relationships with active travel, road safety organisations, and stakeholders to support the mayor’s vision for safer, more sustainable transport in London by 2041.
- Contract Length: 6-month contract
- Pay rate: £177.66 per day via PAYE or £230.66 per day via Umbrella
- Location: Southwark, London – Hybrid work (2-3 days in the office)
Day-to-day of the role:
- Develop and execute integrated engagement strategies targeting key strategic stakeholder audiences, ensuring the maintenance and enhancement of TfL's reputation and high ethical standards.
- Build and maintain strong, credible, and meaningful relationships with stakeholders to provide deep and well-substantiated insight and analysis of their agendas.
- Collaborate internally to engage with key strategic stakeholders on MTS objectives, managing stakeholders’ responses to negotiate issues, achieve mutual outcomes, gain understanding, and generate advocacy.
- Gain regular feedback from key external audiences, sharing relevant intelligence and information with the Engagement Managers, Lead, and Head of team, as well as with the Local Communities and Partnerships, Government and Parliamentary Relations, and Corporate Communications teams.
- Produce high-quality written briefings, speeches, and correspondence for the Commissioner and other senior internal colleagues, often to short deadlines, maintaining TfL and the Mayor’s reputation.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven experience in stakeholder engagement or related field, preferably within transport, public sector, or related industries.
- Strong ability to build and maintain relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to produce high-quality documents under tight deadlines.
- Ability to work collaboratively across multiple teams and with various internal and external stakeholders.
- Knowledge of transport policies, particularly related to Healthy Streets, Vision Zero, or road safety, is highly advantageous.
