We require a Engagement Officer to cover an existing workload within Transport for London, based in Southwark (Hybrid working).
This is an interim position for an initial 6 months with the potential to be extended, dependent on workload.
Job Purpose:
- Reporting into the Engagement Manager for Healthy Streets and Vision Zero (road safety), the Engagement Officer will help to lead our relationships with active travel, Healthy Streets and Road Safety organisations.
- The Engagement Officer will work closely with colleagues in Stakeholder Advocacy and Engagement, Corporate Communications and other teams across the business to deliver strategic engagement on our policy and decision-making on projects and initiatives.
- The Engagement Officer will play a key role in building and maintaining advocacy from our core stakeholder groups to create a favourable policy, legislative and funding environment, working towards the Mayor’s aim that by 2041, 80 per cent of all journeys are made on foot, by cycle or using public transport and all deaths and serious injuries are eliminated on London’s roads.
Skills and experience needed to be successful in this role:
- Stakeholder engagement including external organisations and groups.
- Experience working with public policy / strategy in some degree (health, inclusion, transport, government).
- External communications experience.
- Desirable: Interest in transport and interest in road safety, walking and cycling.
- Experience in engaging external audiences and institutions and dealing with senior stakeholders.
- Experienced working as part of an integrated communications team to achieve strategic objectives.
- Strong influencing, networking and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to turn complex technical information into concise and coherent communications for different audiences, working to tight deadlines.
This role offers a competitive salary of £177.66 per day PAYE / £230.66 per day Umbrella (Inside IR35) and you’ll be working via Reed who offer great benefits such as discounts, cashback offers and more as well as weekly pay.
