The Role

·Planning, preparing, and presenting lessons

·Continuous assessment and reporting, to ensure students achieve the highest possible standards

·Organising classroom, learning resources, and creating displays to encourage a positive learning environment

·Providing feedback to parents and carers on pupil’s progress at parents’ evenings and other meetings

·Carry out subject related duties agreed upon within the English team

·Undertake and commit to the role of Form Tutor, if required (‘Klassenleitung’)

·Keeping up to date with changes and developments in the structure of the German curriculum

·Organising and taking part in school events and school trips

·Attend relevant professional development events

·Cover for absent colleagues

·Consulting with colleagues and working flexibly

REQUIREMENTS

· ‘2nd State Examination’ or Master of Education in English

· Your spoken and written English must be of native speaker standard

· At least 2 years experience teaching ‘Abitur’ / A-Level students or the equivalent

· Excellent in teaching English to a range of abilities, including high ability students

· Excellent subject knowledge and a passion for English Literature and Language

· Knowledge and understanding of effective teaching and learning styles and monitoring of  assessment, recording and reporting of student progress (German system will be used)

Desirable Skills and Experience

·Teaching experience in an international school or similar environment

·Experience in teaching in schools outside Germany, ideally the UK

·Ability to understand and/ or speak German

·IB-trained
