Full-Time Teacher of Maths Required - Outstanding Hackney School (September 2025 Start - Key Stage 5 Essential)
Our Outstanding school in the vibrant and diverse borough of Hackney, London, seeks a dedicated and experienced Full-Time Teacher of Maths to join our thriving Maths department and make a real difference to the mathematical understanding and problem-solving skills of our students across Key Stage 3 and, crucially, Key Stage 4 and 5, commencing in September 2025.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Planning, preparing, and delivering engaging and effective Maths lessons that cater to the diverse learning needs of our students across all key stages, reflecting the technological and analytical context relevant to Hackney and London.
- Fostering students' understanding of key mathematical concepts, principles, and their applications, with a strong emphasis on the demands of the A-Level specification (and potentially Further Maths).
- Encouraging logical reasoning, critical thinking, and the development of strong problem-solving skills.
- Assessing and tracking student progress in Maths across all key stages, providing constructive feedback, and implementing effective intervention strategies, particularly for A-Level students (and Further Maths students).
- Contributing to the development, implementation, and review of the Maths curriculum across all key stages, ensuring alignment with examination specifications and opportunities for mathematical enrichment.
- Utilizing and contributing to the development of high-quality Maths resources, including digital tools, mathematical software, and challenging problem sets relevant to the student population of Hackney.
- Contributing to extracurricular activities that promote mathematical exploration and engagement within the school community (e.g., maths clubs, competitions).
- Collaborating effectively with colleagues within the Maths department and across the wider school to foster a rich and interdisciplinary learning environment.
- Engaging in ongoing professional development to enhance teaching practice and keep abreast of current developments in mathematics and pedagogy, with a focus on A-Level (and Further Maths) teaching and assessment.
The Ideal Candidate Will Possess:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
- A degree in Mathematics or a closely related field.
- Successful experience teaching Maths across Key Stage 3, GCSE, and, crucially, A-Level (experience with Further Maths is highly desirable).
- A strong and up-to-date understanding of the A-Level Maths (and ideally Further Maths) curriculum and relevant examination specifications.
- Excellent pedagogical skills and the ability to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners, particularly the academic rigor required at Key Stage 5.
- A passion for Mathematics and the ability to inspire students and foster their logical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- A commitment to the safeguarding and well-being of students and the promotion of mathematical literacy and engagement within the Hackney community.
