Maths Teacher - Training Provider in East London

About the Role

A well-established creative industry training provider in East London is looking for a dedicated and motivated Maths Teacher to deliver high-quality teaching across GCSE Maths (Edexcel) and Functional Skills Maths (Levels 1 & 2). The successful candidate will support a diverse group of learners, including those in alternative provision, many of whom have disengaged from traditional education.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated Maths lessons
  • Teach GCSE and Functional Skills Maths (Levels 1 and 2)
  • Track and record learner progress using internal systems (e.g., Google Classroom, Arbor MIS)
  • Accurately record attendance and academic notes
  • Follow safeguarding procedures and behaviour management policies
  • Use assessment data to inform planning and adapt teaching approaches
  • Support learner progression and exam readiness
  • Communicate effectively with parents and guardians
  • Attend team meetings and participate in training and development
  • Contribute to achieving high retention and success rates

Essential Requirements

  • GCSEs in Maths and English at Grade 4/C or above (or equivalent Level 2)
  • A relevant subject degree or qualification
  • Experience teaching GCSE and Functional Skills Maths
  • Strong classroom management and organisational skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A learner-centred, empathetic, and inclusive teaching approach
  • Awareness of challenges faced by disadvantaged learners

Desirable

  • Level 5 teaching qualification (or willingness to work towards it)
  • Experience embedding Maths in vocational or creative industry contexts
  • Previous experience teaching in a Further Education or alternative provision setting
  • Knowledge of a variety of teaching strategies tailored to diverse learning needs
  • Background in a relevant creative industry or entrepreneurial role
