Job Description

We are seeking dedicated and drivenScience Teacherto join our dynamic team at a thriving secondary school in London. The ideal candidate will be committed to delivering high-quality science education across Key Stages 3 and 4, inspiring students to explore the wonders of biology, chemistry, and physics through engaging and innovative lessons.

There is the opportunity for this role to progress into the 2IC of the Science Department for the right experience / attitude.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver outstanding lessons in line with the national curriculum.
  • Teach general science across Key Stages 3 and 4
  • Assess, track, and report on student progress and attainment.
  • Create a safe and stimulating learning environment that promotes academic and personal growth.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, training, and school-wide initiatives.
  • Set and mark homework and classwork in line with school policy.
  • Provide constructive feedback to students and parents/guardians.
  • Maintain classroom discipline in line with the schools behaviour policy.
  • Contribute to extracurricular science activities, clubs, or educational visits.

Person Specification:

Essential:

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  • Degree in a science-related discipline.
  • Proven ability to teach science effectively across Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Strong classroom management skills and the ability to engage and motivate students.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Desirable: Experience teaching science at Key Stage 5.
  • Experience working in a London school environment.
  • Willingness to contribute to whole-school activities and initiatives.
