We’re excited to be launching a brand-new Secondary School in Merstham, designed specifically for neurodivergent young people aged 11–16. The school will support up to 100 pupils—80 at our main site and 20 at a smaller satellite site in Caterham. This is a rare opportunity to be part of something from the very beginning, and we’re looking for a dedicated and experienced SENDCo to join our founding team.

What the Role Involves:

  • Supporting the day-to-day running of the school, ensuring it’s a welcoming, inclusive, and well-resourced environment.
  • Acting as Deputy Exam Officer, working with staff to ensure all exam processes meet JCQ requirements.
  • Helping pupils identify meaningful post-16 pathways and supporting their transitions.
  • Overseeing the implementation of EHCPs and ensuring our SEND provision is compliant and effective.
  • Managing staffing, resources, and policies to support SEND provision.
  • Building strong relationships with families, staff, external agencies, and local authorities.
  • Supporting the Head of School in developing our SEN strategy and leading our therapy provision.
  • Taking an active role in safeguarding and pupil wellbeing.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Essential: QTS or QTLS, with experience teaching creatively within SEND or relevant key stages.
  • A background in leadership within inclusion or SEND, with a proven track record of raising standards.
  • Confidence in managing complex situations and working collaboratively with a team.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Desirable: Additional qualifications in SEND (e.g. Autism, Dyslexia), leadership training (NPQSL/H/SENDCo), or a willingness to complete these within two years.
