A high-performing secondary school in Hackney is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and inspirational Subject Leader for Religious Education to join their team from September 2025. This is a permanent position, ideal for an ambitious and passionate educator ready to lead curriculum development and raise achievement in RE across all key stages.
The Role:
Lead the RE department with strategic direction, vision, and purpose
Deliver high-quality teaching of RE across Key Stages 3 and 4 (KS5 optional)
Oversee curriculum planning, assessment, and enrichment opportunities
Support and develop a small team of dedicated RE teachers
Foster a culture of respect, reflection, and open discussion in line with the school's values
Work closely with SLT to promote the importance of Religious Education within a broad and balanced curriculum
About You:
A qualified teacher with QTS and a strong track record of success in RE teaching
Experience in a leadership or subject responsibility role (e.g., KS coordinator, second in department)
Deep knowledge of world religions, ethics, and philosophy
Strong organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Committed to inclusive education and developing students' moral and cultural understanding
