Long Term Futures are working with a well-resourced and forward-thinking secondary school in Lewisham to appoint a Teaching Assistant with a strong background in English or Languages for an immediate start.
The successful candidate will support students across Key Stages 3 and 4, both in class and through targeted intervention sessions. This is an ideal role for a recent English or related degree graduate, or someone with teaching ambitions, who is looking to gain long-term experience in a supportive school before moving into teacher training or further study.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support students across a range of subjects with a focus on literacy and English
- Work 1:1 or in small groups with students who require additional academic support
- Assist with lesson delivery, engagement strategies, and progress tracking
- Help build student confidence and encourage independent learning
- Liaise with teaching staff and the SEN team to identify and meet student needs
- Contribute to a positive, inclusive classroom environment
Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- A degree in English, Language or a related subject
- Experience working with KS3 and KS4 students in an academic setting
- A calm, professional and proactive approach
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- A genuine interest in supporting student learning and development
