Overview:
SANZA Teaching Agency is seeking an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant with British Sign Language (BSL) skills to join a primary school deaf provision in Islington. This is a fantastic opportunity for passionate education professionals to support deaf and hearing-impaired pupils in a fully inclusive environment, helping them access the curriculum, develop confidence, and thrive academically and socially.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for deaf and hearing-impaired pupils across primary years.

  • Use BSL fluently to support learning, communication, and social development.

  • Assist the class teacher, Teacher of the Deaf, and SENCO in delivering differentiated lessons.

  • Support pupils' emotional regulation, independence, and confidence.

  • Help create a safe, inclusive, and nurturing classroom environment.

Requirements:

  • Recognised BSL qualification (Level 2 minimum, Level 3 or above preferred).

  • Proven experience supporting deaf or hearing-impaired children in an educational setting.

  • Strong behaviour management, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Patient, flexible, and proactive approach to supporting pupils with additional needs.
